Hello there!

I’m a Berlin based
senior user researcher and UX designer
with roots in human factors and cognitive ergonomics.

My Design Process

My design process is based on design thinking and human-centered design.
These iterative design approaches strive to meet user needs, business goals as well as technical feasibility.

The stages shown below are not always consecutive. Sometimes they do not have to follow one specific order, they can occur in parallel and be repeated iteratively.
This means my design process and its stages should be understood as different modes that contribute to a project, rather than strictly sequential steps.

Understand

At the very beginning and throughout the project it is important to uncover and understand the users’ needs, context and motivations.
What goals do they have and what
tasks have to be carried out to reach these goals?
Therefore I empathise and learn by e.g. interviews and observations on what users think and what they do.

Specify

Based on user goals, needs and context I specify user requirements.
I bring insights to light and make them available and perceptible to the team and to stakeholders to understand the user process and potential problems.
The specified goals, user needs and requirements integrated in a vivid story empowers the team to truly empathise with their users.

Ideate

With a defined problem and specified requirements, I ideate multiple solutions so the users are enabled to reach their goals.
Technical constraints have to be considered as well to find a feasible solution for the identified tasks and problems. The most promising approach gets prototyped.

Design

I produce prototypes and design solutions that aim to meet the users‘ goals and tasks with a satisfying usability and a meaningful user experience.
Prototyping can also spark new ideas and approaches.

Evaluate

By testing the prototype it will be ensured that technical, business and user requirements can be fulfilled.
Tests and evaluations reveal insights that can redefine the problem and initiate another iteration.

I have experience in applying user research and ux design in various fields
Below you can find an overview of some of the domains and industries I was involved in.

If I had an hour to solve a problem and my life depended on the solution,
I would spend the first 55 minutes determining the proper question to ask,
for once I know the proper question, I could solve the problem in less than five minutes.

If you think good design is expensive, you should look at the cost of bad design.
